G-Dragon “Heartbreaker” = Flo Rider “Right Round”?
Big Bang GDragon’s solo title song ‘Heartbreaker’ has been said to have plagiarised other’s music.
GDragon released the preview to his solo album title song ‘Heartbreaker’ at about 5pm on 11th August which he has set to reveal on 12th initially, a 30seconds preview on me2day site.
The reason to releasing the previews were said to let fans know of some of the music to be included in his first solo album to be released on 18th August. But with the reveal of ‘Heartbreaker’ there has been debates that it plagiarises Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’.
Netizens went, “Just 30 seconds revealed but it sounds exactly the same”, “Even though there are similarities, the melody is different” etc
With that YG Entertainment said, “Now we only revealed just 30 seconds to the song, it is ridiculous to call it plagiarism. ‘Heartbreaker’ did not plagiarise other’s music. Please look forward to the full song.”

i wouldn’t call it direct plagiarism since it’s only a preview, but the verse does sound really similar to flo rida’s. i don’t think it’ll be that much of a problem as long as the chorus to GD’s song doesn’t sound the same as the “you spin my head right round, right round” part of flo rida’s song. anyway, i’m really looking forward to hearing the full title track. it sounds good so far.

Well from what I’ve heard from the preview its very very similar and thats all it takes. It doesn’t have to be the whole song, even if its a second it’ll still count. Bit disappointed in a sense, well then again we dnt know if its sampled or not anyway.
Its not about chorus, its that beat in the back ground and the rapping to that beat, its very similar.
Also the vid is wrong…. its not the Dead or Alive one, its the Flo Rider version the one with that beat.
@aboundlesslimit: Dead or Alive is the original song. Flo Rida sampled it to make “Right Round”. The article is all about the netizens going crazy but really Flo Rida song is not original so it really can’t be plagiarism.

I won’t say it’s plagiarism just yet because as a company YG would be smart and cover their asses if G-Dragon did use even just part of Flo-Rida’s song. According to me plagiarism applies mostly to the more legal side of the matter. To me this so far this is really a blatant cover or sample of “Right Round.” of Flo-Rida’s rap. Unoriginality is unoriginality. But all is too early to judge.

Hmmm as long it sounds good I wouldn’t care if the beats are slightly the same but the thing I’m most disgruntled about is the auto tune but whatever.
@sophia I know the original is Dead or Alive’s, yes flo rider sampled it and its what flo added to the song, is what netizens are saying GD ‘plagiarised’. Like I’ve mentioned its that beat in the background and the way the rapping is that makes the two very similar. I’ll be very disappointed when the full song comes out and the similarity is throughtout, as I believe GD is so much better than that.
I had to go to popseoul to hear it the video provided by YGworld has been pulled. They sound to close GD version sound more water down then Flo Rida. I don’t know can’t be to quick to judge.I don’t like Flo Rida even though he is from my state 305 I’m 941. I like GD is better Flo Rida stuff is starting to sound all alike. GD is like Kanye West he can sample as long he puts his own spin on it and make it damn good. ^_^

Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’ isn’t even originally his . Its You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) by Dead or Alive, He just used the beat & some of the lyrics to remake it personally, I don’t like it. Even if it sounded a little bit like it , GD’s version is better . GD didn’t say in the song ‘ you spin me right round ‘ the beat is just similiar. Warner just needs an excuse to get some cash .

If the writer copies certain amount of verses, he definitely plagiarized.
Many songs written by GD and Teddy (both YG) sound very similar to many songs of American artists. I’m losing the faith in YG now. Please ashamed of the fact that there arent as talented Korean artists as in other countries. And these entertainments (such as YG SM JYP) expect to make a hit for millions. It’s not gonna happen unless there is a TRUE talented one.
It will especially NEVER happen in the states or Europe. So if u r working for the millions hit………. be Truthful and faithful to the art (music) itself. I’m pretty sure the song writer (GD as the CEO of YG said first or some other writer from another country as he changed his words around) would definitely know the truth. He or she better feel guilty for copying other’s work.

I listened to the whole song today and yeah while the first 30 seconds do sound similar the rest of the song it’s pretty much different. I think if anything he just pulled more of a Kanye and did some sampling which is not uncommon especially when it comes to music in the U.S. Everyone is so concerned with plagiarism, learn to ignore the claims until it’s actually proven. From the Black Eyed Peas to Coldplay and Vanilla Ice have been accused of plagiarism, some claims are just bull while others have more substance. And while I believe artists borrow from each other on occasion- I don’t think this is anything substantial.
when i first listened to the song yes i agree it does sound like flo rida’s song in the beginning. BUT a lot of artists do the same. i’m not defending g dragon or his label. se7en even sang a verse from jay z’s ‘girls girls girls’ in his first english single. kanye does a lot of this stuff. if he’s sampling then yes it’s okay. just admit to it. in my opinion the song sounds like flo rida’s ‘right round’ and britney spears ‘womanizer/circus’.

Only part of the beginning sounds the same. After that it sounds totally different.
Um well i think it is true that “heartBreaker” and “right round” is similar but still there are different to it, if everyone just listen to those song carefully then they will know the difference between those two songs. So right now I really support GD that he did not plagiarism the music.

lady gaga is one of the best singers in the world but she does bad things too …
um….has anyone else noticed the rising trend in recycling tunes? it’s not plagiarism. they use familiar tunes in rap songs or wherever. TI even used Dragostea din tei (sp?), better known as Numa Numa, in his song Live Your Life. it’s not that they aren’t original. in fact, i think that’s more creative, to be able to take something familiar and make something new with it, rather than being stuck on how it’s “supposed to sound”.
